Wanna know something?
I never know how much to share. On this blog, or in real life. I tend to be either a complete mute and keep it all quietly tucked deep inside. Or non-stop TMI. It doesn't help that some people ask THE MOST incredibly personal questions. Can you say "awkward"?
Anyway, I don't really want this blog to be about sad things, or hard things or well, you know, the stuff in life we all deal with. I have some of that. I know you do too. And once in a while I might go MIA, or my post may be lacking that extra something. BUT, the truth is, this blog is my ESCAPE, my happy place. I can not make it about those things. This is where all I have to think about is crafting and sewing and talking with my girlfriends. That's you, BTW.
BSM (Busily Spinning Momma) really means so much more to me than I ever thought a blog would. I've had some incredible opportunities because of it. I have "met" some amazing ladies (hi Aimee, Ginny, Amy, Mrs.Wardy, Katy!). I have really felt appreciated by EVERY.SINGLE.ONE of you who visit my lil' blog! And those who comment? Well, you ladies would be treated for a big ol' pot roast dinner if ya'll lived closer :) And, not bragging or anything but, I make a mean pot roast :)
All that to say this: I hope to begin to share a little more (not a whole lot more, for the above reasons) about my out-of-the-blog life. And also, I wanted to show you this:
I LOVE this picture. It was such a yummy moment. A grab-him-tight-smush-my-nose-on-his-cheek kissy kinna moment. And that face right there? That's his smug face. "That's right daddy, it's all about ME"...hahaha :) (BTW...his brother, my oldest who was napping at the time of this pic, gave me the wildflower in my hair. LOVE.)
Okay, well, that's all. Oh, I lied! One more thing! I want this blog to reflect me. Not just "sewing me" and "tutorial me", but ME. I want to incorporate more of the things I love. Like cooking. My faith, family, scrapbooks, jewelry making, cards, fashion, embroidery, crochet.
What do you think? You, as the much valued reader of this blog, would you be on board? Do YOU feel it's been lacking a personal touch? I would love your opinion!
And as always, thanks for reading! Especially this loooong post :)
xoxo, Dorian

Dorian, I think your blog will be truly lovely as long as you're doing what makes you happy. You have a wonderful writing voice, beautiful pictures, and mad talent.
ReplyDeletep.s. What a kissable little guy you have! Great picture.
Do exactly as you please :o) I have to say that I don't tend to share that much on mine because, like you, it's my happy place, although I may very occasionally mention other influences if it's stopping me from doing something I promised I would do on the blog.
ReplyDeleteLike the previous ladies have said, do whatever you think is right for you! I try and have a mix on my blog and will bore people with house moves and holidays etc but most posts are crafty! I do love to read about others everyday lives a bit though because everything can seem all to perfect in blog land when in reality, link you said, we all have ups and downs and why not use the network of friends through your blog to help you through the tougher times!

Yay for more you!
ReplyDeleteI love that we can carve out these online happy places, I really do. What did mamas DO before there was such a thing as blogging?
Such a beautiful idea!
ReplyDeleteAdding more of who you are will only make make your blog more special..and even when it's more of a personal post (even about not-so-easy things), it can still be your happy place. :) My blog is purely personal and there have been times that i come to better understand how I'M feeling because i'm forced to put my heart into words. It helps me put things in the right perspective and while pouring out my heart, i'm also speaking truth to myself- reminding myself that God is in control and i can rest in His plan. :) Also, having encouraging comments from your friends is nice, too...haha
i hope that you're doing well! i can't wait to read more and i hope an upcoming blog explains even more of that beautiful picture!
I say add whatever you want! I'm sure we'll LOVE it no matter what you decide! :)
