A Bird in the Hand, err, Cage...

Hi friends! Long time no see!

We've been a little under the weather this past week (and my poor babies are going on week 2!) with a bit of a cold and fever with a dash of teething thrown in. Even I've gotten bitten by the flu bug. Ugh. So, there's been very little sleep, don't even mention crafty-time for this busy momma.
Seriously, I haven't sewn a seam in over a week! And it's making me unreasonably sad. I miss Ol' Bess (my sewing machine. Yes, I name my machines, I know I'm a total nerd, I'm okay with that :) ). But for some reason, that I can't figure out, I've had absolutely NO inspiration, motivation, or creativity flowing through me lately. And that is making me sadder (is that a word?) than anything else. Which really stinks. I hate being in a funk, but I am. I am in a complete funk. And now, how do I go about de-funk-afying myself?

Anyway, I wanted to show you a cute little something I found a while back.

See the arrow? There's s tiny bit of red paint at the bottom, but not on the other side. To paint or not to paint?

It's the sweetest wooden birdcage. It could be wicker. I'm not complete sure.
It measures 13 inches from top to bottom and is quite roomy. In fact, two summers ago, when a tiny little bird seemed hurt, Hubs put him the ol' cage until he started flying around a bit. Hubs and my oldest wanted to keep him.

But it's mate wouldn't leave the tree near by, watching, calling out. THE ENTIRE TWO DAYS. So, when they were napping, I let him free. I was the "bad guy" for a couple of days after that :)

Took this pic through the a closed window, that's why it looks all blurry :)
I want to use the birdcage on a shelf my Hubs just put up (no worries, it's been cleaned!), but I'm not sure if I should paint it or leave it? Is the bit of red paint enough reason to paint it? What do you think, paint it white or leave it be?

I hope you're all having a great week so far, thanks so much from the bottom of my sneezing, sniffling heart for reading along. Oh, and thank you to those of you who emailed, and asked if we're okay! Your concern touched me deeply.

  1. Personally I would leave it as is. I used to be a fan of the clean painted look but my husband loves the look of old used things (hopefully that is not why he chose me!!) and his taste has grown on me!

Hope you are all better soon.
