Hello Lovelies....man, am I excited to share this tutorial with you!
I've been on a bit of a jewelry kick lately, and am truly enjoying it. I have one more idea (not a knock off) after this, but then I have a TON of sewing coming my way!
Anyway, I was browsing through the Anthropologie website, wishing I had a wedding to go to to have an excuse to buy a dress for inspiration.
When I saw this lovely little number, not a dress, but sweet all the same:
The "Tight Squeeze Necklace"
Now, when I saw it it was a whooping $48!!!! Now, however, it's on sale for....$19.95!!!!! Honestly, that's so NOT bad for this lovely piece and if I had an Anthro near me, I may just have bought it. I mean, look at the detail on those orange beads!
But I don't have an Anthro close by. And I'm cheap...I mean FRUGAL, I hate paying for shipping. HATE it. So I set out to make a look-a-like. For under $4.
Wanna see what it turned out like?
Here's how to make your own!
The Brass Coupling parts were .82 cents a piece at Home Depot. The bag of would cost around 5 bucks, but I already had that and the other stuff from other projects.
You will be using orange wooden bead. 3 medium, 2 small.
Do all five beads the same way:
***NOT PICTURES: I painted the brass with nail polish as well.
*NOTE: The small beads go on first and then last.
And you're now ready to rock it!
As always, you can find this and many more tutorials under the Tutorial tab at the top of the page :)
Hope you liked it and happy crafting!
xoxo, Dorian

Great idea! I never think to alter the beads, this is a fantastic look-a-like :D
ReplyDeleteThis is SUCH a cute necklace! I love the permanent marker and foil technique you used on the beads. I have a similar bag of beads forever now that I've been trying to decide how to use. This treatment is just the thing to take them from drab to fab!!! Thanks for sharing this!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! I saw that necklace a while back and I loved it-but not the price. I have been looking for beads to make it myself but couldn't find the metal ones I needed. I would have never thought to color the wood beads-genius!! Amazing tutorial : )
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog....LOVE IT!!! Great ideas!
ReplyDeleteI shopped the hardware section and now know what to do with the tubes I bought!!! Super excited to try this!
Thank you!!!!
P.S. I also love the rustic spoon and started my own last night. However, I didn't find what you did with the handles???? Please let me know where to find that!
Blessings,
Linda
