Hi guys! Hope you're having a super awesome week!
So, I have a few crafty projects I want to share with you, but not today. Today I really want to write about crafting for charity. Just some things I can across, that have been in my heart lately. I warn you, this post is different than my usual.
I love to sew. And craft. Just make with my own hands. It's therapeutic. But I often feel like I could be doing more...I mean, I don't really need to refashion my tees, I do it for fun. But there are some people out there that can benefit from a few crafty friends.
By now, you've all probably heard of Craft Hope (I spoke about them here). Well, they recently released information about their latest project: Project 14: Christmas in Dixie.

The goal is basically to make stockings for the survivors of the tornado ravaged areas. It may seem small compared to what they've lost, but small things can make a big difference. Especially to a child in need of some Christmas spirit.

This is so simple and easy. Imagine how many people we could bring a little more joy if we all got in on it!
For more information, visit their website HERE. (They've also posted several links to stocking tutorials on their facebook page)
Another charity that I recently came across is called the GIRLS ONLY PROJECT.
The idea is simple. Girls need to go to school. In certain parts of the world they can not go to school during certain times, simply because they do not have access to sanitary napkins (aka...pads). So, the Girls Only Project is all about making pads for these young women who just desperately want their education.

And, it can cost as little as $1.60 to make one pad!
Currently, Ladybird Ln. is helping get the word out. Read more about it HERE.
And for a great tutorial, go HERE.
And lastly, Angel Wraps and Preemie Blankets. This is not a collection, but rather something you can do in your own home town. It's basically making teeny tiny little "angel wraps" and preemie blankets for babies born way to early and even for those angels that pass on. The idea behind this is that the grieving parents usually are unprepared for what's happened and therefore have nothing to receive their sweet angel in. By providing our local hospitals with pint size blankies, they can, in turn, swaddle the angels or surviving preemies in blankets appropriate to their tiny frames.
This is so close to my heart. My son spend some time in the NICU and I saw soo many tiny, fragile little babies, fighting everyday. And I can tell you that something as small as a blankie made to their size, would warm their parents heart during those long days.
Anyway, sorry for the long, rambling post. It's a long read but I just wanted to post this in case there is anyone who would like to know more or help out.
As always, thanks for reading :)

This was NOT a sponsored post. Just a heartfelt one :)

I actually used that Scripture not that long ago to my husbands uncle. He said that we were stupid for raising $$ for clean water for people in other countries. He proceeded to tell my kids that Jesus never said we needed to help others!!! What Bible do you read?? I quoted Matthew 25:34-40 and he actually told me that's not what Jesus meant. So sad. We should be helping others who are less fortunate. Thanks for all you are doing for these charities and all you did to bring awareness to ours! The girls raised over $200 in the readathon and we are over $500 just in donations. We didn't get to do the Indie Market because we couldn't share a friends table, but we have still been selling the spoon pendants. 13 so far!! Thanks so much!
